Submarine takes part in hunt for MS804 flight recorders
Egypt used an oil ministry search– submarine to hunt for the flight recorders of EgyptAir flight MS804, which plunged into the Mediterranean last Thursday, killing 66 people. The black boxes could help reveal why the Airbus A320 crashed; minutes earlier smoke had been detected on board. President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi said it would take time to determine the cause: “All theories are possible.” Signs of smoke were picked up in a lavatory and the electronics, according to data from the Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System.
Passenger victims included 30 Egyptians, 15 French citizens, two Iraqis, two Canadians, one Briton, and citizens from Algeria, Belgium, Chad, Portugal, Saudi Arabia and Sudan.
