Farming needs urgent global shift – not pilots
I’m happy to read about the rewilding pilot projects in England. (Spotlight, 9 September).
Though the article does not mention these things, I assume the scheme plans to practise agriculture that sequesters carbon, to change the role of domestic animals and to consider reintroduction of large predators.
Considering the urgency of climate change mitigation, it may be wise not to spend too long on pilots. This shift in agriculture must be global. Edward Butterworth Victoria, BC, Canada
