Hancock’s reality TV stint greeted with criticism
The Conservative MP Matt Hancock has been covered in slime and pelted with feathers and custard while taking part in the UK reality TV show I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here!
Hancock, 44, has sought to rehabilitate his image after resigning as health secretary for breaking Covid rules by having an affair with his aide. His decision to join the show was met with criticism from parliamentary colleagues as he is a serving MP and will be in Australia for the duration of filming. He had the party whip removed and the prime minister, Rishi Sunak, expressed his “disappointment”.
