For­mer boy­band singer charged over rape of fan

An ex-mem­ber of the Bri­tish boy­band JLS has been charged with rape over an al­leged at­tack on a fan.

Oritsé Wil­liams was ar­rested on 2 De­cem­ber 2016, the morn­ing af­ter he per­formed at the Gor­geous night­club in Wolverhampton. A 20-year-old woman al­leged that Wil­liams at­tacked her in a ho­tel room af­ter the con­cert.

Wil­liams, 31, de­nied the ac­cu­sa­tions at the time of his ar­rest in a state­ment from his man­age­ment com­pany, 10 Worlds Mu­sic UK.

Jamien Na­gad­hana, 31, has also been charged with sex­ual as­sault in con­nec­tion with the al­leged at­tack. Wil­liams and Na­gad­hana will ap­pear be­fore mag­is­trates on 11 Oc­to­ber.

Wil­liams formed JLS in 2007, orig­i­nally un­der the name UFO. The four-piece came sec­ond in the 2008 se­ries of X Fac­tor. Their 2009 de­but al­bum, JLS, was cer­ti­fied four times plat­inum in the UK.
