Rooney novel in No 1 spot

- Alison Flood

Sally Rooney’s Beautiful World, Where Are You has shot to the top of the UK’s book charts, selling 46,000 copies in just five days.

The Irish author’s novel had been highly anticipated, with 50 UK shops opening early on 7 September to sell it to impatient fans. Strong sales in the week to 11 September, coupled with preorders, have now sent it soaring: in total, it sold 46,065 copies last week, according to the sales monitor Nielsen BookScan.

Beautiful World, Where Are You is Rooney’s third novel after Conversations With Friends and Normal People.
