THE HEAT IS ON: Young chef Jamie Wakeford looks on as celebrity chef Martin Wishart works in the kitchen … before tasting success in winning the Scottish Food Scholarshi­p.

Mr Wakeford, 23, won the award, set up to nurture and promote the most promising chefs in the country, last night.

A chef at the De Vere Cameron House Hotel at Loch Lomond, Mr Wakeford displayed his talents with a dish of pan-seared scallops and sea bass with carrot puree and a dessert of orange and rhubarb with ginger sabeyon and citrus biscuits.
