Raynesway turnover increases by nearly40%
RAYNESWAY Construction has seen turnover soar by almost 40% in the first nine months of the year.
At the end of September, the Paisley-based civil engineering arm of Balfour Beatty had booked £46.3 million of revenue, an increase of £13m on the first nine months of 2011. The 2012 figures for the year so far also surpass the £38m recorded for thewhole of last year.
The company said it had recently seen a boost from commercial developments.
It is working on road infrastructure on behalf of BAE Systems at the former Bishopton munitions factory, which is being regenerated to put in housing, parks and leisure facilities.
Raynesway is alsoworking on a mixed-development site for Hansteen near Falkirk and road works on behalf of Muse DevelopmentsforanAsdainLarkhall. Stephen Scott, managing director of Raynesway, said: “We are doing stuff for developers, putting in infrastructure for housing, commercial developments or retail.
“It is encouraging to see these types of projects coming to the fore again.
“We have also had increased success with local authorities and utility companies for infrastructure for wind farm developments.
“The number of tenders around is certainly quite healthy. Obviouslywe have been more successful in winning them across quite a broad spectrum of works.”
This year the company has worked on joint replacements on the Forth Road Bridge, the completion of the Anderston footbridge over the M8 in Glasgowplus a park-and-ride facility at Hampden Park.
Raynesway employs 110 salaried staff plus a further 90 hourly paid operatives.
