Accused denied role in teenager’s murder
A MAN accused of killing teenager Liam Aitchison told police he did not know what they were talking about when he was quizzed about the murder, a jury has heard.
Stefan Millar also denied a claim during the December 2011 interview that he had struck Mr Aitchison on the head with a bottle.
The evidence was heard at the trial of Millar and Johnathan MacKinnon at the High Court in Glasgow.
The pair – both 22 – are charged with the murder of Mr Aitchison in Steinish on the Isle of Lewis on November 23 2011.
It is claimed the 16-yearold was struck on the head and body with a knife and bottle as well having his head stamped upon.
The court heard yesterday how Millar was interviewed by police officers after the discovery of Mr Aitchison’s body inside a derelict building.
He was a s ked by a detective to say what his involvment was in the murder of the teenager.
Millar replied: “I don’t know what you are talking about.”
Police later put to him that they had information that he had hit Mr Aitchison with a bottle.
But, Millar said: “I don’t know who is giving you this information as it is not true.”
Millar and MacKinnon deny the killing.
The trial, before Judge Lord Kinclaven, continues.
