Police killer changes pleas to guilty for other charges

-

A MAN who killed a Scots policewoman has admitted murdering four people and three attempted murders.

Dale Cregan has admitted killing Scots police officer Fiona Bone, 32, and her colleague Nicola Hughes, 23.

Now, in week 17 of the hearing he has admitted killing father and son David Short, 46, and Mark, 23.

He changed his pleas to guilty to attempting to murder three other men as he shot Mark Short in the Cotton Tree pub in Greater Manchester, last May but is on trial as he denies a count of attempted murder.

His barrister, Simon Csoka, QC, told Preston Crown Court, Cregan should be cleared of the charge because when he “sets out to kill, he kills”.

Cregan lured the unarmed police constables to a house in Hattersley, Greater Manchester, before using a Glock handgun and a military grenade to kill them on September 18 last year.

The Cotton Tree shooting was said to have been ordered by Leon Atkinson, 35, and that Cregan recruited Luke Livesey, 27, Damian Gorman, 37, Ryan Hadfield, 28, and Matthew James, 33, for the task. They all deny the murder of Mark Short and the attempted murders of Mr Collins, Mr Pridding and Mr Belcher.

Anthony Wilkinson, 33, has pled guilty to murdering David Short. He denies a ttempting to murder Sharon Hark in Droylsden.

Francis Dixon, 37, and Jermaine Ward, 24, deny the above charges relating to David Short and Sharon Hark. Mohammed Ali, 23, denies assisting an offender.

The trial continues.
