Change in planning focus urged
THE planning system should contain “explicit emphasis” on the economic impact of decisions, a Scottish Government minister has said.
Planning Minister Derek Mackay spoke o ut on proposed changes to the system, which will put a greater emphasis on economic factors – including if developments will create new jobs.
A consultation is being carried out on Scotland’s third national planning framework and a revised Scottish planning policy.
Mr Mackay said: “The Scottish Government is focused on sustainable economic growth, and as Planning Minister I am intent on delivering a planning system that is enabling this objective.
“I believe we are making good progress.”
