THE COMEDY CLUB: FATHER FIGURE

ANOTHER chance to hear Irish stand-up Jason Byrne’s, pictured, four-part sitcom for radio. It turns on the calamitous parenting techniques of Byrne’s alter-ego, also called Jason, and his tricky relationship with Catholic parents who disapprove of his Protestant wife, Chloe. First broadcast on Radio 2 last year, it features Father Ted’s Pauline McLynn as Bryne’s mum, Peter Gowen as his dad and Sharon Horgan as Chloe. If you like what you hear you’ll be pleased to learn that filming has begun on a six-part BBC 1 adaptation.
