Drugs link after two bodies found in house

POLICE are refusing to rule out a drugs link after the bodies of two men were found in a house.

The 4 6 - year- o l d and 49-year-old were found dead together in a property in Port Glasgow, Inverclyde.

Officers are believed to be investigating whether the deaths are drugs-related.

Emergency services raced to the house in Broadfield Avenue, a quiet street in the town, at around 4pm on Saturday after the tragic pair were discovered.

Teams of forensic officers were later seen carrying out a detailed search of the bungalow and police remained in the street yesterday.

A cordon was placed around the property as the investigation got under way and a fleet of police cars was at the scene.

Police said the deaths are being treated as “unexplained” and post-mortem examinations will be carried out in the coming days to establish the cause of the deaths.

It is understood toxicology and blood tests will also take place. However, the results can take several weeks to be confirmed.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman confirmed postmortem examinations were due to take place on the two men.

She said: “We can confirm at around 4.10pm on Saturday October 5, the bodies of two men, aged 46 and 49, were found within a house in Port Glasgow.

“At this time, the deaths are being treated as unexplained.”

Detectives are now understood to be working to map out the men’s movements in the hours before their bodies were found in a bid to find out how they died.

Police confirmed a report on the incident would be sent to the procurator fiscal.
