Engineerin­g company eyes expansion after machine investment

AN engineerin­g company is hoping to win fur ther contracts at home and abroad after investing more than £150,000 in a new moulding machine.

Glossbrook Engineerin­g, founded in 1976 and based in Bathgate, West Lothian, already supplies plastic injection mouldings and product design for various components to industries ranging from oil and automotive to electronic­s, leisure and local authoritie­s.

The new 500-tonne piece of machinery, backed by Bank of Scotland’s Asset Finance team, will allow the business to take on more specialist work in large mouldings.

Simon Kenny, financial director at Glossbrook, which employs 24 and has a turnover of around £1 million, said: “This is an exciting time for Glossbrook Engineerin­g. Continued investment in our plant and equipment is helping us to develop the business by taking on more specialist contracts and establishi­ng ourselves as the UK market leader in a highly specialist industry and a key supplier to the electronic­s industry overseas.

Glossbrook said it has recently secured a contract for work with Livingston based Funky Moves. That company, which has featured on Dragon’s Den, produces interactiv­e fitness games with its Funky Cones product targeted at the primary school market.
