Festival has change of heart for runners

-

MARATHON organisers under fire for not releasing runners’ results have agreed to make competitors’ times public if they ask for them to be published.

The Edinburgh Marathon Festival said competitors who want their positions made public to help future rankings will be able to have them accessible for athletics bodies from today, Initially, only individual runners could see their result by logging onto a website after a text confirmation was sent to them.

However, EMF said on its Facebook page, where runners had earlier raised concerns, that the competitors could choose after a rethink.

It said: “Your personal data and infor mation, including results data, are treated with great respect.

“As such your result information is exclusively available to you within your My Details account.”

Nearly 10,000 took part and David Tonick of Kenya won in 2hr.15min.33 sec., seconds off the record.
