Eggs Benedict
Yelpers know their brunch, and Glasgow and Edinburgh have some of the tastiest spots in the UK. This week, we bring you some of the freshest spots across our cities where Eggs Benedict is the star of the menu.
CAFEZIQUE
70 Hyndland Road, Glasgow Martyn M “ordered eggs benedict... The food order was taken swiftly and the food was brought out just as quick, and it was absolutely delicious! The hollandaise sauce and the BACON (oh wow the bacon) were both fantastic.”
THE BLUE BEAR
9 Brandon Terrace, Edinburgh Emma W, Brunch Master: “I ordered a flat white and eggs benedict and I wasn’t disappointed. In fact I could have done the round again it was that good!” Try the infamous Eggs Rebecca - a black pudding and bacon eggs benny.
HYDE BAR & DINING
9 Partick Bridge Street, Glasgow “I adored my Eggs Benedict,” says Sophie K. “The bacon was crispy and the toasted muffin was delicious, the eggs not too vinegary (always a risk you run when ordering poached eggs, apparently). I was happy to have asked for the sauce on the side, and I must admit, it was not what I would call “sauce”. It was quite firm, and I had to spread it using my knife.”
LOUDONS CAFE & BAKERY
94B Fountainbridge, Edinburgh If you can make it past the “amazing homemade cakes on display” Sarah L suggests you sink in to the savoury “gammon eggs benedict – heaven!”
HUTCHESONS
158 Ingram Street, Glasgow Debs M “decided to opt for the small Eggs Benedict instead of the regular portion like I had planned on doing, which was probably a good move. I have to say that the Eggs Benny was definitely one of the best, if not the best I’ve ever had - every component of it was delicious!”
TOAST
146 Marchmont Road, Marchmont, Edinburgh Choose your own adventure with eggs benedict boasting ham, smoked salmon, bacon or spinach. “The setting is cozy and it is clearly a firm favourite for brunchers from all over Edinburgh because every weekend it’s packed to the gills!” - Emily H
BILL’S
22 West Nile Street, Glasgow Angela B’s boyfriend “ordered the Eggs Benedict (of course!). I can only comment on mine as I didn’t get a look in with the eggs Benny; it was practically INHALED by my boyfriend! Haha! He said it was ‘up there’ with the best he’s tried.”
URBAN ANGEL
121 Hanover Street, Edinburgh Cady G suffered some egg envy when her dining partner ordered the eggs benedict and said it was “some of of the best hollandaise he’s ever had!”
TAPA COFFEEHOUSE
721 Pollokshaws Road, Glasgow Jennie H says “they do a great range of breakfasts from a full cooked breakfast to vegetarian and vegan options – I usually go for the Eggs Benedict as they’re lovely. You can get them with bacon, smoked salmon or black pudding and although they come on toast rather than muffins, I think it’s their own bread .”
THE WEST ROOM
3 Melville Place, Edinburgh Christina W keeps it short and sweet: “The eggs benedict were great and I loved the eye for details in the decor of the place. Definitely a good tip for a Sunday brunch!”
