Churchill’s ‘Few’ attend memorial day
SEVEN members of Winston Churchill’s “Few” took pride of place at a memorial day to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.
Veterans were joined by HRH Prince Michael of Kent in Capel-le-Ferne near Dover to remember those who stopped German invasion plans by defeating the Luftwaffe in 1940.
The Battle of Britain flypast with two Hurricanes and Spitfires was cancelled due to poor weather, but the Memorial Day service of commemoration went ahead.
Richard Hunting CBE – the Battle of Britain Memorial Trust’s chairman – said: “It is a privilege to have such men amongst us.”
