Burns museum marks Yeats
The Robert Burns birthplace museum at Alloway will host a celebration of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Irish poet WB Yeats on Saturday, August 1 at 2pm. Promoted by Crossroads Lifelong Learning Partnership, a social enterprise based at Hurlford in Ayrshire and serving the educational needs of the rural community, the workshop will be hosted by poet and tutor Kate Hendry.
Hendry was Scottish Book Trust Reader in Residence at the National Library of Scotland 2013-14 and runs the Nothing But the Poem reading groups at the Scottish Poetry Library.
She said: “Both Yeats and Burns are internationally recognised as the leading literary figures of their time, and while I would never presume to compare them, it will be fascinating to discuss Yeats surrounded by the spirit of Burns.” katehendry.net.
