RECEPTION has been lukewarm for the second series of this hyped and atmospheric drama. The problem is that the hype remains but the atmosphere has vanished. The first series was set in the languorous heat of Louisiana, against the weird backdrop of swamps and cypress trees. This time, it’s in California, a setting worn thin by a thousand other detective shows. Something has been lost.
