Every golf lover’s dream apartment for sale at £1 million

-

GOLF fans may not get much better than a grandstand view of the historic18th from their armchair.

An address that could be the one of the ultimate properties in the home of golf is expected to create a storm of interest even with a price tag of offers over £1 million.

As the 144th Open Championship gets under way in St Andrews, estate agent Savills said it is marketing an apartment with some of the most amazing views in the Fife town.

The property at 22 Golf Place is on the corner of the street leading down to the Royal and Ancient Clubhouse, and The Links, which borders the 18th fairway of the Old Course.

Savills said that “almost under the big picture windows of the sitting room is the 18th green, with the clubhouse and first tee and fairway beyond it, and beyond there, the West Sands and the North Sea”.

Said to be even better are the views from the balcony that opens off the sitting room, from where pretty much the whole of the Old Course can be seen.

While it is too late to acquire this apartment in time for this year’s Open, the event will almost certainly return to St Andrews in 2020, for the 30th time, unless the pattern of recent years is interrupted.

Harry Maitland, of Savills, said: “I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw the view.

“Savills has sold several houses and apartments overlooking the 18th, but this is the closest to the action.”
