Final call for entries to digital business awards as firms highlight value of winning

Founded by Mr Sealey and Mike Rutterford, the syndicate has led investments of more than £170 million in over 80 companies, creating more than 1,000 jobs since 1992.
“The idea of applying this experience to the social world appealed to me,” said Mr Sealey.
He was encouraged to invest by the availability of a tax break – The Social Investment Tax Relief Scheme – introduced last year, which provides income and capital gains tax reliefs for people who back qualifying businesses.
The investment was facilitated by Firstport, an agency that supports start-up social entrepreneurs in Scotland. ORGANISERS of The Herald Scottish Digital Business Awards have made a final call for entries, with the deadline now less than one week away.
Companies hoping to be named the best digital operators in the country only have until September 3 to get their submissions in.
There are 11 categories to enter this year covering areas such as social media, e-commerce, mobile and education.
The winners of the awards, organised by The Herald and supported by Enigma People Solutions, Ju mp s t a r t , Business Gateway, SCVO, FanDuel and Cit y of Glasgow College, will be announced on October 22 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Glasgow.
Hugh Lightbody, chief officer at the Business Gateway National Unit, said: “We know winning awards brings value to businesses so with the deadline for entries rapidly approaching we would encourage anyone using e-commerce effectively to enter awards.”

Previous winners at the awards, now in its seventh year, include Equator, Nucleus and Storm ID.
