Man arrested after woman’s body found in flat
A 26-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested after police launched an investigation into the death of a woman.
Police were called to a flat in Minto Street in the Govan area of Glasgow at about 5pm on Wednesday and discovered the body of 25-year-old Katy Rourke.
Last night, following a day of intensive police activity at the scene, the force confirmed that a 26-yearold man had been arrested and was being detained in police custody ahead of an expected court appearance tomorrow.
Police said he was due to appear at a special sitting of Glasgow Sheriff Court in connection with the death of Ms Rourke, from Broughty Ferry.
Ms Rourke’s family have been kept informed of developments in the case.
A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
Earlier, Detective Chief Inspector Allan Burton said: “Officers have been conducting door-to-door inquiries and we are gathering and reviewing CCTV footage to gain additional information as part of this ongoing investigation.
“A young woman has lost her life. If anyone has any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, please do pass it on to police.
“Any small piece of information could prove vital in this inquiry.”
Police tape sealed off the immediate area of the crime scene as forensics teams moved into the property to search for clues to the woman’s death.
The street lies close to Govan’s high-security police station.
