Killer seeks help to fund return from US
CONVICTED killer Kenny Richey is appealing for help to get him back to Scotland.
The killer, who spent years on Death Row in an American jail, says he desperately needs to raise cash so he can return home.
Richey says he needs medical treatment and that he is currently struggling to survive in Tupelo, Mississippi, where he now lives. He claims to be homeless.
The 51-year-old has now set up an online appeal to raise money for medication and his air fare from the US.
On the Gofundme page he says he needs to raise £1,400 and he is already £320 towards that target.
He said: “I have had a hard time trying to adjust to the norms of society and do not know how to function properly.
“After five heart attacks and one stroke, I find myself almost $40,000 in debt, with no insurance and no income. I am homeless and desperate. I am trying to return to Scotland, where I would be better able to get care.”
Richey, originally from Edinburgh, spent 21 years on Death Row in Ohio over the death of Cynthia Collins, aged two, in a house fire. He was freed on a plea bargain deal in 2008 then jailed again for threatening a prosecutor.
On his appeal page he criticised Facebook friends who had not yet given him any cash, writing: “Those of you who have not donated, get the hell off my Facebook. F*** off!”
Richey’s brother, Tom, is also serving time in a US jail for shooting two people while high on LSD. He also wants to return to Scotland.
