Science Centre has the right formula

- VICTORIA MASTERSON

GLASGOW Science Centre’s corporate events team is celebrating one of its most successful years for business and corporate events, and its second-highest since the centre was opened 15 years ago.

During the financial year 2015/16, the team, led by the venue’s head of corporate events, Judy Rae, increased revenues by 17 per cent compared to the previous financial year.

Events last year included the Scottish Labour Party conference, a civic reception for the All-Energy Renewable Energy conference, BAFTA Young Gamers, the Marketing Society Star Awards, the International Paralympic Committee Swimming World Championships, the World Gymnastics closing party and the BMW Series 7 launch.

“In 2015, we made a strategic decision to align Glasgow Science Centre with companies and the key economic growth sectors for Glasgow and Scotland to develop our core corporate business,” Ms Rae said.

“By doing this, we were delighted to exceed our ambitious growth targets in the first year, which, as a charitable organisation, has allowed us to invest back into Glasgow Science Centre to further enhance our product.”

The centre is introducing three new corporate science dinner offers; Science of Whisky, Food for Thought and Dine among the Stars, where the food and drink menus will have a sciencerelated theme and flavour.

The venue’s attractions include an interactive science mall, a planetarium that maps out 9,000 stars, Scotland’s biggest IMAX cinema and Glasgow Tower, offering panoramic views of the city.
