Man, 51, charged with murder after death of Fife father-of-two

-

A 51-year-old has been charged with the murder of a man in Fife just days after the victim’s parents made an emotional appeal to find out what happened to their son.

Darren Adie, 42, was found unconscious in Tweed Avenue, Kirkcaldy, on Saturday, May 28.

He was taken to Victoria Hospital, where he later died.

Police launched a murder investigation after the results of a postmortem examination.

Mr Adie’s family had urged whoever was responsible to hand themselves in after revealing they are unable to bury their son until the case is closed.

Mr Adie’s father John pleaded for the person “do the right thing” as he told how Mr Adie’s two children have been left heartbroken by his death.

Mr Adie Sr said: “The family has lost a son, a brother, a nephew and an uncle. Darren’s kids, a son aged seven and a daughter aged nine, have lost a father.

“Just imagine what his kids will feel growing up, knowing that their father was killed and left lying in the street.

“I don’t know how it’s going to affect his children all their life.”

He added: “We want to bury our son and we can’t do that.”

“Please, if you know anything get in touch with police.”

The 51-year-old man is expected to appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court today.
