Insights Learning and Developmen­t chief wins EY Entreprene­ur of the Year Scotland 2016

ANDY Lothian, chief executive of training firm Insights Learning and Developmen­t, has been named EY Entreprene­ur of the Year 2016 Scotland overall winner.

Mr Lothian founded the people developmen­t firm in Dundee 23 years ago with his father. The business has grown to become a global market leader, recording £15 million in revenue.

After fending off competiSCO­TLAND tion from 28 other Scottish business leaders, Mr Lothian heads to London for the EY Entreprene­ur Of The Year 2016 UK final, along with the seven other Scotland finalists whose entreprene­urial achievemen­ts were also recognised at the regional awards.

These are: Timothy Cornelius at Atlantis Resources; Amy Livingston­e and Julie Wilson at Cheeky Chompers; Alastair Atkinson at DySIS Medical; Chris Gauld at Spark Energy; Nigel Chadwick at Stream Technologi­es; Douglas Samuel at The Spartans Community Football Academy and Dr Mick Jackson at WildHearts Group.

An additional Chairman’s Special Award was presented to Moray-based Richard Forsyth, chairman at Forsyths, who as the third generation of the family has grown the revenue of the business by 200 per cent.

Annie Graham, EY partner and leader of the EY Entreprene­ur Of The Year programme in Scotland, said: “Andy’s accomplish­ments are testament to what entreprene­urial flair and determinat­ion can achieve.

“Taking a risk by leaving a well-paid job in the City, this outstandin­g entreprene­ur recognised a niche in the market to help people truly understand themselves and others. The company is now an internatio­nal success story.”
