Married PE teacher admits having sex with16-year-old pupil

A MARRIED PE teacher has been placed on the sex offenders register after he admitted having sex with a pupil.

George Fisher faces up to a year in jail after he pled guilty over the abuse of trust.

He pled guilty to repeatedly having sex with someone under the age of 18, while in a position of trust towards them, between June and November this year, in breach of Section 42 of the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act 2009.

The court heard the 32-year-old preyed on the 16-year-old girl while coaching her hockey at an Ayrshire secondary school and at a separate hockey club.

Staff became suspicious of his relationship with the youngster after she was spotted at the school early in the morning and she lied for him to try to cover up their affair.

But the truth came out when an investigation was launched, which included checks of the CCTV system and where Fisher had used his security pass.

Fisher will be sentenced at a later date.

North Ayrshire Council said he was suspended pending the completion of an internal disciplinary process.
