Obama bans Arctic oil and gas drilling

WASHINGTON DC: President Barack Obama has imposed a permanent ban on oil and gas drilling in most US-owned waters in the Arctic Ocean. The move also includes some areas of the Atlantic and was announced in conjunction with Canadian PM Justin Trudeau, who put a mora-torium on new oil and gas leasing in its Arctic waters, subject to periodic review.
