Dog club official faces prison term

A FORMER dog show official is facing jail after his second conviction for embezzling thousands of pounds from clubs.

Andrew Littlejohn, 61, admitted pocketing nearly £4,500 from Cambuslang Canine Club in Lanarkshir­e while he was their treasurer.

In a letter to Kilmarnock Sheriff Court, Littlejohn pled guilty to committing the offence between May 2014 and April 2016.

He claimed to have repaid the money and blamed the crime on his drinking and health problems.

Littlejohn wrote: “I realise all respect is gone and I have caused upset to a number of people and I do not seek sympathy.”

He had recently completed community service imposed at Ayr Sheriff Court in August after embezzling nearly £5,000 from Cumnock and District Canine Club.

Littlejohn, of Kilmarnock will be sentenced for the latest offence next month.
