Family appeal after man’s remains found
THE family of a man whose remains were found on a motorway embankment seven years after he disappeared have appealed for help solving his death.
Surjit Takhar was 37 when he was reported missing from his home in Oldbury, West Midlands, in October 2008.
A skull and other skeletal remains were discovered near the M54 in Telford, Shropshire, last August by maintenance workers, and were identified as belonging to Mr Takhar following forensic investigations.
The cause of his death remains unexplained but detectives are treating the case as a murder inquiry. The family, including Mr Takhar’s son Harry, 21, and 22-yearold twin girls Sohnia and Sohnay, have joined detectives in launching a fresh appeal for information.
Mr Takhar’s brother-inlaw, Jasvir Sohl, said: “Surjit Takhar was a genuine, one-ina-million individual who loved with all his heart and was loved by us all. Kind, thoughtful and helpful, who could light up a place like no other.”
West Midlands Police said the force was keen to hear from anyone who knew anything about Mr Takhar’s disappearance.
