Crackdown on social media sites

ANKARA: Turkey has restricted access to social media websites after Islamic State released a video purportedly showing two Turkish soldiers being burned alive, according to a monitoring organisation. IS released the video on Thursday, showing the killing of two soldiers captured by militants. Turkish officials have not commented on the video. DOZENS of people have been injured in a fire at a high-rise building on Manhattan’s Upper West Side in New York.

The blaze broke out in a third floor flat just before 5pm local time, and spread to the fourth floor before it was extinguished at about 6.30pm.

Fire officials say two people were critically injured and four had potentially serious injuries. The others, including several firefighters, had minor injuries. The cause of the fire was not known.
