A CYCLIST has suffered serious injuries after being knocked off his bike in a collision with a car during an early morning ride in a rural area.
The man was riding on the A944, two miles east of Alford, near the Mill of Bandley junction, Aberdeenshire, when he was involved in a collision with a silver Renault Clio at about 4.30am on Christmas Eve.
The Clio was being driven by a 35-year-old man. It is not known whether he was injured.
The cyclist was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary to be treated.
Sergeant Rob Warnock, from the Road Policing Unit, said: “Inquiries into the circumstances are at an early stage. I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or came across it or saw the silver Renault Clio or the male cyclist before the incident to contact police on 101.’’
