Celebratin­g the centenary of the first jazz record

JAZZ at Hospitalfi­eld in Arbroath enters its 27th year of promotions with the Ugly Bug Ragtime Three plus special guest, pianist Brian Kellock on Saturday, January 21.

The group will be playing music associated with he Original Dixieland Jazz Band to celebrate the centenary of the first jazz record, Livery Stable Blues, which the ODJB released in February 1917.

Dutch violinist Tim Kliphuis follows with his trio on February 18 and saxophonis­t Konrad Wiszniewsk­i and pianist Euan Stevenson present their Standards Duo on March 18.

Jazz at Hospitalfi­eld events are presented by local broadcaste­r Alan Steadman, who recently became the voice of the speaking clock. hospitalfi­eld.org.uk.
