Agossi to light up Blue Lamp

-

JAZZ at the Blue Lamp in Aberdeen will recommence its weekly programme on Thursday, January 26, when French singer Mina Agossi brings her trio to the Gallowgate venue.

A popular attraction at Glasgow Jazz Festival in the noughties, Agossi, pictured, combines theatrical stagecraft, humour and a singing style that has been described as Bjork meets Billie Holiday in an unusual line-up of voice, bass and drums.

Glasgow sextet Elusive Tree will be the guests on February 2 and trumpeter Colin Steele launches his new album with his quintet on February 9.

Soft Machine Legacy guitarist John Etheridge and saxophonist Theo Travis front a quartet on February 16 and there are appearances by Polish guitarist Szymon Mika’s trio (February 23), jazz-prog adventurers Alex Munk Flying Machines (March 2), and drummer Alan Cosker’s group (March 9). jazzatthebluelamp.com
