Several people perverting course of justice, claims airman’s father

-

THE father of of missing RAF gunner Corrie McKeague has claimed several people are perverting the course of justice over the case.

Martin McKeague spoke out on social media after the arrest of a 26-year-old man in connection with the offence.

Mr McKeague wrote: “You’ll have seen the press release below about the arrest made by the Suffolk police in relation to the search for my son.

“At this point, the McKeague family in Scotland is not getting its hopes up. There are a number of lines of inquiry that the police are pursuing just now, so we’ll just wait and see what we find out about this one.

“Also, in my opinion, there’s not just one person out there who is perverting the course of justice in the investigation into Corrie’s disappearance, but several.

“We’ll continue to tell you everything we can as we find out about it.”

Suffolk Police detained the man yesterday more than five months after Mr McKeague disappeared following a night out in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk in September.

The man was later released. The missing airman’s mother, Nicola Urquhart, took to her son’s official missing page, writing: “The 26-year-old male that has been arrested under suspicion of attempting to pervert to course of justice has been released on police bail, while police carry out further enquires.

“This male is not the bin lorry driver and nor is it a family member.

“Whilst myself, Makeyan, Darroch and our family are trying to remain calm and not read too much into this latest development, it is incredibly difficult not to hope it could be significant.”

She also said police had clarified with her that a knife, found in a bar where Mr McKeague had been, was not being linked to the disappearance.
