Beauty industry awards call for Scots success stories to step up

TIME is running out. We want to hear the success stories behind Scotland’s health and beauty industry.

The deadline is fast approachin­g for The Look Awards 2017, which celebrate the achievemen­ts of those involved in spas, beauty and hair salons, along with barbers, aesthetic doctors, cosmetic dentists and training institutio­ns.

There are 21 categories to choose from and entries must be in by Wednesday, March 22. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on May 14 at Glasgow’s Radisson Blu Hotel.

The event in associatio­n with British luxury beauty brand High Definition, which also sponsors the Outstandin­g Contributi­on Award.

Head of marketing Anna Pickford said: “Entering The Look Awards is an excellent way to raise awareness of your services.

“Your business will benefit from the exposure being involved brings.”

Lynn Milligan, head of beauty at City of Glasgow College, which is supporting the Best Start-Up Award, also urges new businesses to enter and said: “lt is a pleasure to see how innovative and inspiring our creative indus- try has become.”

Good Salon Guide is supporting a new category for 2017, the Colour Expert Recognitio­n Award. Managing director Gareth Penn said: “We cannot wait to see what Scotland has to offer when it comes to their skills.”

Becky Woodhouse, CEO of Pure Spa, which is supporting the Training Institutio­n of the Year category, said: “Making people look and feel good every day should be celebrated.”

Skinade is supporting the Cosmetic Clinic of the Year Award and its head of marketing, Louise Marchesin said: “There is no brand too big or too small to enter and enjoy the great exposure.”

OSMO is supporting the Best Barber category. Brand manager Sinéad McLaughlin said: “The judging panel will have their work cut out with the exceptiona­lly high standard of entries.”

Fake Bake is supporting the Best Use of Social Media category, and global beauty consultant Sandra Vaughan said: “Entering your business can seem a little daunting, but the rewards definitely outweigh the effort.”
