Officer facing sack for alleged ‘sext’ to victim

-

A POLICE officer is facing the sack after he allegedly “sexted” a crime victim an intimate picture of himself while on duty at court.

The man was in charge of a case involving a “vulnerable” victim and they started a “sexual relationship” once it concluded, it is claimed.

The Avon and Somerset officer allegedly took a sexual snap of himself on his mobile while on duty at Bristol Crown Court, and sent it to the victim.

The officer is alleged to have breached professional standards and a misconduct hearing is scheduled to take place next week.

But the force is holding the hearing behind closed doors and has not released the name of the accused due to “concerns regarding the mental health of the officer”.

A misconduct notice said the alleged breach of professional standards occurred on March 16 last year.

It is claimed he breached the rules by becoming involved in a sexual and emotional relationship with the crime victim.

His behaviour is alleged to have “brought discredit on the police force and/or undermined public confidence in the police,” a formal notice stated.

A two-day hearing will be held at Avon and Somerset police headquarters in Portishead, near Bristol, next week.

The victim has not been identified.
