Police chase man in street with a knife

-

A KNIFE-WIELDING man was tackled to the ground by two police officers after chasing two men down a busy street.

The man ran after two others in Kirkintilloch, East Dunbartonshire, yesterday afternoon.

Onlookers said the suspect had dropped a knife which he had been carrying while chasing the pair, and had tried to put it down a drain, but failed.

Police tackled him to the ground and he was put in the back of a van in handcuffs.

Officers had been attending the office of MP John Nicolson at the time of the incident, after a suspicious package was delivered.

They ran out of the office after hearing shouting and saw the altercation.

Two weeks ago, a 33-yearold man died after he slashed his throat in West Nile Street, Glasgow.

He had earlier attacked two people and the police had chased him when he attacked himself.
