Landlord facing prison for keeping puppies in squalor
A MILLIONAIRE landlord who kept dozens of puppies and dogs in appalling conditions in his home is facing jail.
Christopher Gorman, 54, kept 44 animals in kennels and sold them to unsuspecting buyers.
The businessman of Airdrie, North Lanarkshire, was caught after complaints were made about the condition of the pedigree animals from the public.
This led to a raid by police and officers from the Scottish SPCA who discovered Gorman’s cruel trade.
Gorman had been on trial at Airdrie Sheriff Court and denied 11 charges of failing to properly care for animals between June 2015 and January last year.
But he was convicted by Sheriff Derek O’Carroll of nine offences and been warned he could be sent to prison.
Gormanis facing a proceeds of crime probe by prosecutors who believe he has profited from dealing in animal misery.
They have also moved for a lifetime ban on him keeping animals again.
Sentence was deferred for background reports.
