Grenfell fire’s final death toll may not be known ‘until the end of this year’

THE total number of people killed in the Grenfell Tower disaster may not be known until at least the end of the year.

Many of the victims are having to be identified from dental records and other named were not listed accurately as tenants. Police said they are utilising every “every imaginable source” of informatio­n; from government agencies to fast food firms to confirm the numbers killed.

At least 79 people died in the London blaze although there have been conflictin­g reports that the true figure could be more than 100.

It came as a six-monthold baby was among the latest victims to be identified, found dead in her mother’s arms in the smoke-filled stairwell.

Packs of Waitrose’s “Meet The Alternativ­e Beef Style Mince” and Lidl’s “What’s Cooking? Frozen Meat Free Mince” may pose a chocking hazard, their suppliers said.

The 500g packs costing £2.99 at Waitrose and through delivery suppliers Ocado have a best before date of January, February and April 2018.

But all best-before dates of Lidl’s 454 g packs have been removed from stores.

The rehydrated textured soya protein was made by Chester-based MTA Foods (UK) Ltd and shoppers are urged not to eat the mince but return it for a refund.
