Conservative MP sparks furore after using ‘n-word’ at Eurosceptic meeting

-

CONSERVATIVE MP Anne Marie Morris has had the whip suspended after using the n-word as she described the prospect of leaving the European Union with no deal, the party has said.

Ms Morris made the remarks at a meeting of Eurosceptics at the East India Club in St James Square in central London, which was organised by the Politeia group.

As the row erupted, the backbencher, who represents Newton Abbott in Devon, apologised “unreservedly” for “any offence caused” by her “entirely unintentional” description.

Ms Morris was heard in an audio clip, obtained by the Huffington Pos website, saying: “And then we get to the real n ***** in the woodpile, which is in two years what happens if there is no deal?”

Reacting, Green Party

The Tories suspended the MP, Anne Marie Morris.

co-leader Caroline Lucas urged the Tories to remove the whip from Ms Morris, tweeting: “Appalling. Should have the whip removed immediately. No place in our politics for racism, full stop.”

Outgoing Liberal Democrat leader Tim Farron said: “This

disgusting comment belongs in the era of the Jim Crow laws and has no place in our Parliament.”

A Conservative Party spokesman said: “We are aware of these reports, this kind of language is completely unacceptable, and we are urgently investigating.” SCOTTISH brewers BrewDog have lost a legal battle with the estate of Elvis Presley over the name of one of their beers.

The beer firm launched their grapefruit and blood orange Elvis Juice IPA in 2015 and they say it has become one of the company’s best-selling products.

However they were contacted by lawyers from The King’s estate who demanded they change the name of the beverage.

In response, James Watt and Martin Dickie, founders of BrewDog, changed their names by deed poll to Elvis in a bid to prove the name was not exclusive.

They insisted that the Elvis Juice IPA had no connection to the singer and suggested that there ought to be “a little less conversation and more time enjoying our beer”.
