Thug who killed delivery driver admits two more unprovoked street attacks

A ROBBER who only spent three years behind bars for killing a delivery driver yesterday admitted two unprovoked attacks.

John Reid was just 16 when he killed Simon San with a single punch outside the San family’s restaurant in Lochend, Edinburgh, in 2010.

At the High Court in Glasgow, Reid, 23, pled guilty to punching a woman repeatedly on the head in Muirhouse, Edinburgh, on March 1.

He also admitted robbing a man at knifepoint at the victim’s home in the capital on March 9.

Co-accused Michael Roberts, 22, from Edinburgh, also admitted being involved in the robbery.

They were identified as the robbers by police who viewed CCTV cameras.

Simon San, 40, was killed by Reid with one blow.

around 9pm after she challenged him about a motor bike he was revving excessivel­y.

She knew through a Facebook alert that the bike had been stolen.

When she got out her car and approached Reid he punched her twice on the left side of her face. At

the time of the offences Reid was on bail and Roberts was under curfew.

Judge Lord Burns called for background reports and an assessment of the risk they pose to the public.

He deferred sentence until next month at the High Court at Livingston. MIDWIVES will be “aghast” at the bonuses pocketed by senior doctors who are already on top salaries, the leader of the profession in Scotland has said.

Figures showed that bonuses averaging more than £15,000-per-head were were paid to thousands of leading NHS consultant­s last year.

Mary Ross-Davie, the Royal College of Midwives (RCM) director for Scotland, said: “Midwives and other health profession­als across Scotland will be aghast at the level of payments to already very well paid colleagues.

“This will be especially galling when they, working in the same hospitals as these senior doctors, have faced years of pay freezes and pay restraint that have seen the average midwife
