Engaging opera for young ears
SCOTTISH Opera is to present BambinO, pictured, a piece of music theatre for infants aged 6 to 18 months, at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, from August 8-20.
Performances will take place in the Robertson
Room at Edinburgh
Academy and later at Scottish Opera’s Production Studios in October and November.
Written by Scottish Opera’s Composer in Residence Lliam Paterson and directed by
Improbable’s criticallyacclaimed Phelim McDermott, BambinO is the follow-up to Scottish Opera’s successful first project for infants, BabyO. Babies are free to explore during the performance, and to interact with the singers and each other.
A new co-production commissioned and produced by Scottish
Opera, Manchester International Festival and Improbable, the show premiered at Manchester International Festival on
July 5.
McDermott, said: “BambinO has gone down a treat with our tiny audiences and it has been fascinating to see their reactions.”
