Business school head is praised for his leadership skills and innovative methods
PROFESSOR David Hillier, executive dean of Strathclyde University, has been praised for his leadership which has seen the institution’s business school named the best in the country.
He was appointed just two years ago and is responsible for managing the business school.
He was instrumental in developing the school’s new building.
He was also heavily involved in forming a partnership with MCR pathways, a charity supported by The Herald, which provides mentors to disadvantaged and vulnerable Glasgow schoolchildren who have been in the care system.
He has now been awarded
with an Outstanding Contribution by the Business Leader at the Inspiring City Awards.
“I have been proud to lead Strathclyde Business School through a time of great success that has seen us earn recognition internationally and now locally,” he said.
“In our research, we offer incisive economic analysis to inform policy and to help business and industry make the most of their opportunities.
“In our teaching, including our internationally-renowned MBA, we produce a high calibre of graduates with the skills and acumen needed to succeed.
“And we play a major role in Strathclyde’s culture of entrepreneurship, which nurtures many of the innovative and successful new businesses a thriving economy requires.”
The SBS was named Business School of the Year at the Times Higher Education awards.
