Herald group papers vie for 11 press awards
THE Herald, Sunday Herald and sister paper the Evening Times have received 11 nominations for the Scottish Press Awards.
The commitment to delivering quality journalism across the spectrum of newspaper and digital media has seen nominations in nine different categories.
Former winner David Pratt leads the charge with nominations in the Reporter of the Year and Feature Writer of the Year categories. Kevin Mckenna is also nominated in the Feature Writer category.
The Herald’s political editor Tom Gordon has been nominated as Political Journalist of the Year, while Teddy Jamieson and Peter Ross have both been put forward for the Arts/entertainment Journalist of the Year award.
Susan Swarbrick has been nominated in the Interviewer of the Year category, while columnist Marianne Taylor has picked up a nomination for The Nicola Barry award, which is given to a female journalist in memory of the awardwinning feature writer who died last year.
On the business desk, Kevin Scott has been recognised with a nomination for Financial/business Journalist of the Year, and photographer Jamie Simpson is in the running for the title of News Photographer of the Year.
The Evening Times campaign for a soft opt-out system of organ donation, spearheaded by health reporter Caroline Wilson, led to a change in the law last year, and has been nominated for Campaign of the Year.
