Film industry in £9m boost
SCOTLAND’S film industry is to be boosted by “untapped opportunities” as a new national film unit opens with £9 million in funds for moviemakers.
A high-profile role of executive director, with a salary of nearly £94,000 a year, has also been advertised to lead the nation’s new Film Unit.
The body will have its own board committee, including Scottish Government figures, to oversee its work. A £4m development fund will offer cash for screen projects by filmmakers based in Scotland.
A spokeswoman for Creative Scotland, within which the unit will be based, said: “The executive director will be responsible for delivering the ambitious economic targets.”
