Datavita growth plan for 50 jobs

- BRIAN DONNELLY

LANARKSHIRE data centre and cloud services provider Datavita is creating up to 50 technology jobs in Scotland after securing £4.6 million of funding from banking group Santander.

Datavita, which launched in 2016, joined the UK Government’s G-cloud 10 Framework, allowing public sector organisations to access the firm’s services, in July.

The company’s Fortis data centre is located just off the M8, at Chapelhall, and is 100 per cent-powered by renewable energy.

Datavita is part of HFD, a commercial property and investment company which has been a Santander customer since 2012, with the relationship including asset finance and the full day-to-day transactional banking relationship.

Datavita managing director Danny Quinn said: “Our data centre has been developed to meet the requirements of the thriving Scottish IT industry.

“This latest round of investment from Santander allows us to accelerate our growth with the creation of up to 50 technical jobs and new innovative services.”

Cameron Mcnair, of Santander Corporate and Commercial, said: “Datavita is not only at the forefront of the tech sector but also a great asset for the local economy, for Scotland and the UK, and is well placed to capitalise on the growing business need for such hybrid IT services.

“We are delighted to support Datavita’s growth plans.”
