- MARGARET TAYLOR

SOLICITORS, advocates, law firms and legal organisations are being urged to get their entries in for the 14th annual Law Awards of Scotland.

Organised by The Herald in association with HRC Recruitment and supported by The Law Society of Scotland, Mckinstry Practice Management Services and Stirling Park, the awards recognise the outstanding work being done in the Scottish legal sector.

As HRC Recruitment chief executive Hilary Roberts said, the awards “celebrate and recognise” the fact that Scotland “has a proud history of producing sharp legal minds”.

“Scotland’s legal industry continues to blossom and it’s so exciting to see the high calibre of talent currently working in the sector,” she added.

In total there are 21 awards up for grabs, with categories recognising the work being done in private practice as well as in-house and at the bar.

While entries are open to individuals and teams, Graeme Mckinstry of Mckinstry Practice Management, which sponsors the outstanding contribution category, noted that nominations will also be welcomed.

“We are delighted to be sponsoring the outstanding contribution award because of the association of outstanding achievement over a long period of time,” he said. “You will know of someone who has made such an outstanding contribution and you should put forward the nomination now to enable the panel of judges every opportunity to assess your nomination.”

Ronnie Murison of Stirling Park, which is sponsoring the debt recovery and litigation team categories, said his organisation is “keen to see high achievers in their field recognised for their work in 2018”.

The closing date for entries, which can be made at http://newsquestscotlandevents.com/events/ lawawards/, is September 26. The event takes place on November 29 at The Hilton Hotel in Glasgow. For more information contact Kirsty Loughlin on 0141 302 6016 or at Kirsty.loughlin@newsquest.co.uk.
