LINDSAY Dixon is moving from Scotch whisky distiller William Grant & Sons to become chief financial officer of broadcaster STV.

Chartered accountant Ms Dixon, group financial controller at William Grant, succeeds George Watt in the STV role.

Glasgow-based STV announced in October that Mr Watt intended to step down from the chief financial officer role in 2019.

Before joining William Grant, Ms Dixon was group financial controller at Glasgow-based engineering company Weir Group.

STV said that Ms Dixon had extensive merger and acquisition, investor relations and international experience.

It added that, early in her career after qualifying at accountancy firm Deloitte, Ms Dixon had held senior finance roles with newspaper publisher Johnston Press.

Simon Pitts, chief executive of STV, said: “Lindsay was the stand-out candidate in an extremely strong field and I am delighted she is joining STV at such an exciting time in the delivery of our strategic growth plan.

“She brings extensive plc experience from a diverse range of sectors, including commercial media, and I am very much looking forward to working with her.”

Ms Dixon said: “I am really excited to be joining STV as the company progresses an ambitious growth strategy and look forward to working with Simon, the board and the wider team at STV.”
