Stars line up for premiere of Glasgow Film Festival
GLASGOW rolled out its red carpet to stars of the silver screen as the 15th annual film festival got under way.
The event opened last night with a screening of actor Jonah Hill’s directorial debut Mid90s and runs until March 3, with 204 films showing at venues across the city.
Guests attending this year’s bash include Sir Michael Palin, who will discuss his varied career in a special live Empire podcast, while musicians Steve Shelley of Sonic Youth and The Pastel’s Stephen Mcrobbie join Daydream Nation director Lance Bangs for a postscreening question and answer session.
Magic Mike, American Horror Story and White Collar star Matt Bomer will also make an appearance at the Scottish premiere of Papi Chulo.
Joining director Brian Welsh for the Closing Night Gala screening of BEATS will be key cast members Cristian Ortega, Lorn Macdonald, and Amy Mason, plus co-writer Kieran Hurley, Director of Photography Benjamin Kracun, and producer Camilla Bray.
Meanwhile, the festival’s Industry Programme includes spotlight interviews with director and writer Amma Asante and director Joe Penna.
Other guests taking part in panel discussions include Alice Lowe, Hope Dickson Leach and Claire Pijman.
There will also be a special live recording of the recently launched
Girls on Film podcast with presenter Anna Smith.
Tom Harper’s film Wild Rose, about a country singer and which was filmed in Glasgow, will have its Scottish premiere on February 28.
