CFE implementation

-

One of the architects of Scotland’s school reforms has spoken out over its “flawed programme of implementation”. Dr Keir Bloomer raised concerns over the Curriculum for Excellence. Our readers commented online:

“How can you suggest failed implementation on a 40-year-old failed system? Mind you it is doubtful if it is going to get any better so maybe his comment is understandable.” Peter Dale Smith, heraldscotland.com

“I find it incomprehensible how any parent with children at secondary school could have voted SNP at the last General Election when all the independent analysis shows that their children would be better off being educated in England than in Scotland.”

Graeme Eadie, heraldscotland.com

“Someone said the other day Scotland’s problem isn’t the curriculum but deprivation, same as the North of England and I think there’s a lot of truth in that.

“There was a job drain and a brain drain to South East England when Tory governments moved industries to their own back yard.

“That’s now the wealthiest area of Britain and populous enough to balance out the rundown North to give England better figures. Whereas Glasgow and the surrounding area is a big part of Scotland.”
